This set is at both ends of the spectrum! Start with the books because the different colors give you a head start. But the cat!!! I have 2 of these (real) tabbies at home and, though i can tell them apart, these pieces are so irregular and similar in color that it took weeks to figure this one out! Mamma miao!!!

I was really surprised by this puzzle set. I was excited about the variety between the two puzzles, but the gulf in difficulty might be too much. The cat took me three times as long as the stack of books and I developed intense eyestrain headaches as I tried to sort through glossy pieces of nearly indistinguishable fur. The only reason I was able to finish the puzzle at all was the strategy of sorting out in-focus pieces from blurrier pieces and recognizing that they represented the foreground / background of the cat photo.
As for production quality, I found it frustrating that the included poster is fairly small, which made it difficult to identify fur. I had a number of pieces that weren't fully cut and were difficult to separate in each puzzle. I also ended up with an astonishing 16 (!) duplicate pieces in the cat puzzle. It's possible that photographic puzzles just aren't really for me, but this didn't seem like the best example.

I purchased four puzzles from Galison including this one containing two puzzles. This particular puzzle is fun and attractive but I had to spend an hour fixing the two puzzles before I could work the cat and the stack of books. Four of the five puzzles I purchased weren’t fully cut apart at the factory and the top layer on many pieces wasn’t properly glued to the backing. There were also flaws (wrinkles in the top layer, or tears at the edges) in four of the puzzles I purchased. I know that Galison used to produce high quality puzzles as I still have one of them. Will not be purchasing puzzles from Galison until and if they resolve these widespread quality control issues.

The cat puzzle called to me, since my cat looks exactly the same. What a fun puzzle. The quality is excellent. This is not a dog bone puzzle, and looking through pieces of tan and black cat fur was more challenging than I expected. Several months later, I decided to do the books. I was delighted to find such whimsical titles! I love this puzzle and plan to frame it for permanent display.
